I am a Durban based photographer. I was recently on a trip to Cape Town and took a stroll down to the beach at Melkbos Strand near Cape Town to watch the kiteboarding in action. It was an extremely cold and miserable day. I have a huge admiration for the passion of these kiteboarders from Cape Town as not only were they brave (or crazy) enough to go out on such a cold day – they had to brave the icy water of the Atlantic Ocean. I was wearing two jerseys and a jacket and I was still cold! The photo of a local photographer will give you some indication of how cold it was – gloves, jacket and boots! Hats off to the kiteboarders from Cape Town – the Durbanites don’t know how lucky they are.
